Local Schools Prepared for Bushfires

LOCAL schools have emailed parents with their bushfire plans today, ahead of the catastrophic fire rating tomorrow.

All schools have advised parents on their designated evacuation centres if schools need to be evacuated, with procedures for where parents should collect their children.

Due to the bushfire rating in Merriwa, students from Merriwa may not be able to travel by bus to schools which go through bushfire prone areas; parents of students in Merriwa should check their school’s fire plan arrangements. 

For children living in bushfire prone areas please consider the potential threats in your area and if it is safest for your child to stay at home tomorrow.

School staff absences are also expected tomorrow, as many staff may have to stay home to respond to risk in their own home areas.
