“I’ve always loved sports and the sports store was such a fun place to go as a kid,” said Adam.
“We used to go in and mess about with things, the owners I remember were just fun and easy going and would let you hang around in the store and be sporty, maybe you’d buy something, maybe you wouldn’t, it was just fun,” he said.
“We are expanding the range of things you can get, we want to bring more brands to Scone, so that people can stay in Scone and not have to travel, they can just nip down the shops and get what they need,” he said.
“I used to love being the kid at school that had the new boots, but rugby boots back then were very different with big metal studs,” he laughed.
“We are expanding our sports range including some new brands of footwear and clothing. We are excited to announce that we will soon have Sketchers footwear and Champion clothing arriving in store.
“We’ll still be stocking a great range of fishing and camping gear, so if people are going to the dam on the weekend or heading to the coast for the holidays we will be able to help them get kitted out.
“We supply trophies and engraving for everything from local sporting clubs to pub karaoke competitions and anything in between. We also do team shirts with printing of your choice including logos, and we can also provide logos on uniforms or promotional clothing for local businesses,” he said.
“While we still sell things like dart boards, pool table accessories, and great Christmas presents like bocce sets and other outdoor games, we won’t be keeping the children’s toys and board games.
“The good news is we have a stall at the upcoming Blooms Markets where you can come and get 50 percent off the toys we have left, so there are some great bargains for the kids,” Adam said.
Adam said he wants Scone Sports Store to be at the heart of the community and has kicked things off by donating $750 worth of prizes to the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre’s Christmas raffle.
“It’s important to support each other in small communities and donating prizes to the Christmas raffle is a great way to share our passion for sport and support the incredible work that the Neighbourhood Centre does here for so many local people,” said Adam.
“I like to see the sports stores at the heart of local communities and that’s what I want to do here,” he said.
“I come from a village in England so I like the smallness of Scone, I like the people here, I like smiling walking down the street and saying hello,” he said.
“Scone has a great community feel, you get to know people, be part of the community and there is only one set of traffic lights,” he laughed.
“I feel at home here and I want people to feel at home coming into their local sports store,” Adam Brooks said.
As the new owner of the Scone Sports Store, Adam would love you to drop in and say hello. You can follow their Facebook page Scone Sports Store for regular updates on new stock arriving in store, some great special offers and some fun competitions.
