THE market headed north this week, it was a lot dearer on last week by 20 to 30 cents on a penning of 909 cattle.

Numbers throughout the country are down and processors are starting worry about where they are going to obtain cattle from.

There was a very good run of heavy cows this week and the best of the cows made $2.68 which last week was $2.48 so that’s 20 cents better.

Most cows made from $2 for a plain cow all the way through to $2.68, so all cows virtually making over $2 a kilo.

In trade cattle and cattle going back to the paddock, young cattle were 20 cents better and there was fair penning of feeder cattle and they saw a massive jump in the market with a new buyer from JBS feedlot down south which were buying heifers and steers at 350 to 450 kilos.

The market might fetch a few out to sale, especially around this area, with no rain on the horizon and the market going north some people may be sick and tired of it and go to market.
