Hendra: Authorities Say Business as Usual in Scone
HUNTER Local Land Services have advised that equine event organisers should proceed as normal with all events in the area and have confirmed there are no movement restrictions in the area, except on the specific farm which had the case.
“Anyone who is organising events in our area, especially equestrian events, there are no transportation or stock movement restrictions, except on the property that is affected,” said Penny Evans
“We want everybody to continue with their regular good biosecurity practices and adhere to the instructions of event organisers, but there are no restrictions or perceived increased risk for any local event organisers,” she said.
“Maintain your biosecurity practices like you would at any event, but don’t think that there is an increased risk to your event because of this,” Ms Evans said.
Yesterday, Local Land Services also advised the mare which was infected with the virus had not been recently transported into the area and had been on the farm for a “great length of time”.
