Make Your Voice Count with the Pool

ON Monday night the recommendation for the change of pool entry age will be voted on at the Council meeting.

If you want the Council to know what the community things, there is little point posting on social media, which many refuse to read.

However, you can ensure your voice is heard through the following ways:

1: Go to the Council meeting and tell them: At the beginning of each Council meeting is a public participation section. You must register your details before midday on Monday by completing the following form: The time limit is STRICTLY adhered to and you will be asked to stop speaking at exactly five minutes. 2: Speak to a Councillor: Councillors are there to represent the views of this community. Many of the Councillors have complained that while people might post on social media they don’t pick up the phone to them and tell them what they think. Most Councillors don’t read social media posts and so unless you tell them directly they may have a skewed view of how the community feel about issues. 3: Sign the Petition: Brook McInerny is organising a petition to be given to Council on Monday night. You can help by signing the petition and they also need people to take the petition to other residents. Brook plans on getting the children in the town involved, so if you children are concerned about this issue they can also be involved in their voices being heard by getting adults to sign the petition. This is clearly an issue many people in the community are concerned about, but unless you do one of the three steps above, your voice will not be heard and never assume others will do it for you.

The more voices which are heard the more the Councillors will understand how the community feels about this issue and how they expect to be represented by the people they elected.
