Rainfall in the Last 24 Hours

“THE rainfall has come from a broad trough system lingering in inland New South Wales and also some fairly substantial southerly winds associated with a ridge extending along the coast which have brought in quite a lot of moisture so quite a lot of showers along the coast and the eastern side of the Range,” said Andrew from the Bureau of Meteorology.

“It’s also been enhanced by an upper cold pool which makes the atmosphere a bit more unstable and conducive to the development of cloud and rainfall,” he said.

“For the rest of today there may be a few more showers, although the rainfall totals will probably be less than yesterday,” he said.

“The exception to that may be if you happen to be under a thunderstorm, however the thunderstorm activity is expected to be further to the north and west,” he said.

“Tomorrow and over the weekend we do have a further chance of more rain in the north-east corner of the state…however in the Upper Hunter not so much in the next few days,” Andrew said.
