Hats On for Mental Health
THE whole town is being encouraged to wear a hat on mental health day next Friday.
The Upper Hunter Youth Council and Scone Rotary Club have joined forces to raise awareness and funds for mental health in our community.
Mary Spora youth services supervisor for Upper Hunter Shire Council said it was a great way to involve youth in the community.
“Several schools will send representatives to help with a collection down the street next Friday, with the donations going to Rotary’s mental health research fund,” said Ms Spora.
“It’s great for the students to be involved with community groups like Rotary it builds their confidence and helps them see how they can contribute to their own local community,” she said.
“It gives them a belief that they can make a difference, from getting a group together to do the fundraiser, getting permission and going down the street to collect donations they see they can be part of a bigger picture,” Mary Spora said.
The Scone Rotary Club will also hold a trivia night that evening at the Scone Bowling Club: See the Community Calendar for the details – Trivia Night.
