Calling All Snappers
PHOTOS maybe taken with an iPhone or with a state-of-the-art camera; they might be shot by an amateur who captures a great moment or a professional with great technique; all photos and photographers are welcome at the Murrurundi Photographic Prize.
Mandy Archibald, president of the Murrurundi Arts and Crafts Council said the prize is so popular because everyone is welcome to enter.
“Photography is something everyone can have a dabble at and iPhones give everyone a platform,” said Ms Archibald.
“Some art can be a bit confining for people, but photography is a bit more across the board, it is great for children to do and a great hobby to have no matter what kind of photography you like,” she said.
“This prize is really for people to have a go,” she said.
“If you’ve taken a photography you like, it is worth putting it in the exhibition,” she said.
“Photography can use great technique, but sometimes it is just capturing the moment and the emotional response it gets from people,” she said.
“There is an old farmer out here who is very conservative, but loves shadows and shapes and he’ll see the shadow of a bridge and take a photograph and it’s a great perspective most people may not notice otherwise,” she said.
“We definitely encourage everyone to share their images and enter them in the prize,” Mandy Archibald said.
