Total Fire Ban Issued
A total fire ban has been declared for Greater Hunter today, due to forecast hot and windy conditions.
The Rural Fire Service may issue a harvest safety alert for areas of heightened risk, so harvest operators should monitor conditions and check they are operating within guidelines.
During a total fire ban the following applies:
- no fires in the open;
- all fire permits are suspended;
- no activities that are likely to cause a fire, and
- no general purpose hot works such as welding or gas cutting in the open.
Gas and electric barbeques may be used providing certain conditions are met.
