Fund to Support Students During Drought
GODOPLHIN has donated $30,000 to the Upper Hunter Education Fund to help families struggling with the burden of the drought.
“Some kids may feel their further education aspirations are placing a financial strain on their families,” said Andrew White president of the Upper Hunter Education Fund.
“This significant new funding from Godolphin aims to give kids and families another avenue of support during this difficult period of drought,” Mr White said.
“We are extremely grateful for Godolphin’s ongoing support of the Fund and this contribution will greatly assist the learning and development of the young people of the Hunter Valley,” Andrew White said.
The drought donation will be available to assist local students for the next one to two years of their tertiary education and applications will be sought for next year in the next couple of months.
However, tertiary students from throughout the Upper Hunter area including the Scone and Muswellbrook Shires are also encouraged to apply for immediate assistance with applications available now.
Vin Cox, managing director of Godolphin in Australia said the decision to donate to the Fund had sprung from discussions with local youth Services.
“The Fund’s achievement is entirely off the back of a resourceful volunteer committee and local benefactors,” said Mr Cox.
“UHEF is a great program doing an inspiring job in supporting local Upper Hunter families,” he said.
“We wanted to give additional support to the great work they are doing and help address anticipated drought pressures on education,” he said.
“The education of our youth is a key element of Godolphin’s commitment to our local communities and we’re really proud to support sustainable programs such as the UHEF,” Vin Cox said.
Applications are available on the Facebook page: Upper Hunter Education Fund and can also be sent to: Andrew White, president, Upper Hunter Education Fund, 57 Brook Street, Muswellbrook.
