Menace Dog Meeting Tonight

Filed in Recent News by August 28, 2018

THERE will be a community meeting in Murrurundi tonight to discuss ongoing dog attacks in the area, with representatives from Council, local police and the RSPCA present.

Murrurundi resident, Russell Griffiths, who has been lobbying for authorities to address the issue said someone needs to take responsibility.

“Really there seems to be a breakdown as to who does what, the police won’t get involved because they say it is a Council issue and Council say they don’t have the resources and we the community are left in the lurch,” said Mr Griffiths.

“The issue is ongoing and I think it is only a matter of time until there is a major attack on a person, just as there was an attack on the young lad in Scone a few weeks ago,” he said.

“We have to bring back the streets for the people, we’ve got women who won’t let their kids walk to school or have given up exercise because they don’t want to walk on the roads,” he said.

“The entire Shire is talking about it and I hope a lot of people some so that there is a lot of input,” Russell Griffiths said.

  • WHEN: 5:30pm, Tuesday, August 28.
  • WHERE: CWA Hall, 109 Mayne Street, Murrurundi.
