THIS year’s window competition for the Aberdeen Highland Games was won by Berry and French Pharmacy in Muswellbrook.

Second place went to EHP First National in Muswellbrook, third place to St Vincent dePaul’s Muswellbrook and a special mention was given to the Weidmann wing in Muswellbrook.

See photos below.

A highlight of the displays was Bernie, Sally Shields activities coordinator for Muswellbrook Day Care explained that Bernie regularly gets into the spirit of many community events.

“We had a wedding display as part of Valentines Day and one of the things donated by one of the staff was a dress makers dummy that went with her wedding gown, but she didn’t want it back,” said Ms Shields.

“A dress makers dummy has no head, or arms, or legs, so we made them out of papier mache,” she said.

” We named it Bernie after a beloved member of our community who is no longer with us and with that name it can be a guy or a girl,” she said.

“He’s been St Patrick, he’s just represented New South Wales in the State of Origin, he’s been an Easter bunny, a lactating mother and a surgical nurse with blood all over him for International nurses day,” she said.

“So now it is appropriate that Bernie as a girl is representing the Highland Games, all kilted up!” Sally Shields said.
