Highs and Lows of MMA
LOCHLAN Eadie is back home in Scone following his first professional mixed martial arts fight in Melbourne on Saturday night.
Lochlan fought well in the first round, but a low blow to his groin, followed by a liver shot in the second round saw the referee call a technical knockout.
Lochlan issued the following statement after the fight:
I’d like to say thank you to Hex Fight Series for the opportunity, and also to my opponent who brought a tough fight.
I didn’t get the result I wanted.
Everything was going really well up until the fight.
My weight but was perfect, I was prepared and had a game plan, but when the fight started I hesitated and was too respectful to Raphael.
There were good exchanges from both in the first round, then in the second I wasn’t able to find my range and he was connecting well.
In the exchanges I rocked him with a knee but was unable to take advantage of the opportunity and was then hit by a low blow to the groin and then a liver shot which put me down and I just couldn’t recover.
I’m so grateful to everyone who showed me support, I really appreciate all the messages and kind words.
I am still very disappointed and frustrated with myself as I didn’t push myself to my limit like I know I can and it cost me.
Finally, I’d like to thank my father and coach Rod Eadie who travelled to Melbourne, cornered, trained and prepared me for battle.
“Without his guidance I would not be where I am today…OOS!
Lochlan said he will be heading straight back into training and prepare for the next opportunity to fight.
Unfortunately, Lochlan’s fight was moved from third on the card to seventh and Foxtel stopped their coverage of the Hex Event after fight six, leaving local supporters at the Belmore Hotel and Scone RSL frustrated at not being able to watch the fight.
Fox Sports have advised the fight will be shown on their YouTube channel in the coming days.
