Adam Makes Milestone in Scone
WHEN Adam Brand posted on his Facebook page that he would like to play some small country pubs on his latest tour “Milestones”, Romy Kelaher from the Belmore Hotel in Scone thought it was worth throwing their hat in the ring.
“So many people jumped on inviting him to Broken Hill and Condobolin and everywhere and so I jumped on and said ‘come to Scone’,” laughed Ms Kelaher.
“I didn’t hear anything back for a while and thought, oh well were are not as interesting as Birdsville, but eventually he called the pub and James nearly fell over when he took the call, ‘Adam Brand just called and wants to come and play here, but it was actually Adam Brand not his management’, it was fun,” she said.
Adam’s music career has spanned 20 years since he set off from Perth to Sydney and he has achieved many significant milestones including 16 albums and the 2018 CMC Artist of the Year.
To celebrate he has released a new album “Milestones” and for this tour wanted to go ‘old school’ playing small country pubs.
Usually in a small town there are a couple of iconic pubs that have been there forever and touring shows don’t go there so I put up a post saying if you own a country pub…
“I want to go to these country pubs and party with the locals, rather than when people do go to a show and they have to travel to a bigger town to come and see me and we had more than two and a half thousand comments on that one post so I thought I am going to do this!” said Mr Brand.
“Much to my record companies and agents dismay,”he laughed.
“But I don’t care I just want to go to these places and party in their backyards, I’ve scaled everything down and we are just travelling around in a van doing it old school how I started,” he said.
“Over 20 years I’ve travelled down so many roads, done so many shows, made so many life long friends and had incredible experiences and it culminates in this one song, one video, it’s a wrap up of my journey the ups and downs and pivotal moments of a journey that spans 20 years.
Adam said he has travelled through Scone many times and stopped for a coffee and a pie, but is looking forward to Friday night to party with the locals.
Romy Kelaher said the the Belmore was keen to bring more music to the town with a DJ from Candy’s Apartment in Sydney having played at the pub before and the Australian Navy Jazz Band.
