New Horse of the Year
WHILE many humans are recognised for their contributions to the equine industry during the Scone Horse Festival the organising committee has decided it is about time a horse shared in the glory and has announced the Horse of the Year Award.
Peter Haydon, of Haydon Horse Stud in Blandford championed the award and said all breeds of horses across all disciplines would be considered.
“As Horse Capital of Australia, we have such a broad scope of horse pursuits from pony club to all the performance horses, to racing,” said Mr Haydon.
“And whilst the Scone Horse Festival has always recognized people, it is so very appropriate to acknowledge the achievements of an outstanding horse as Horse of the Year,” Peter Haydon said.
David Gatwood, president of the Scone Horse Festival said, “down the track we would like to encourage each sport to establish their own annual awards and then nominate their most accomplished horse each year for the Scone Horse Festival Horse of the Year – this is our quest for 2019.”
