Neighbourhood Yabbies Ready to Race

LEE Watts said this Saturday’ fundraiser for the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre is shaping up to be a good night.

“The Yabba Dabba Doo yabbie races are definitely a highlight,” she laughed.

“We have named them after people who have donated, but in a fun way so there is Footloose after the podiatrist and Aria after our own local opera singer  Cecilia Connell,” she said.

“There is a calcutta for the yabbies and there is prize money of course,” she said.

“It looks like we will have a good turn out and I think everyone will have a good time.

“We need to keep the Centre open five days a week, not just to support the most vulnerable in our community, but to support everyone in our community.

“Instead of having lots of small fundraising throughout the year, we have one big night with the community and it is a fun night,” she said.

“The people who have donated have been amazing and there are some great prizes including a drilling company which has donated $7,000 for a water bore or a new plumber who has donated new taps which he will install, in all we have 51 items, which is just brilliant and there is also a raffle,” Lee Watts said.
