Neighbourhood Under the Hammer
COMMUNITY services are increasingly stretched in regional areas and Scone is no exception.
Lee Watts, manager of the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre is holding the second annual fundraiser auction to help keep the doors of the Centre open five days a week.
“Funding is becoming more scarce and we are more reliant on the support of the local community to keep essential services going,” said Mrs Watts.
“The annual fundraiser last year was a great success and it is coming together again well this year thanks to the donations from local individuals and businesses,” she said.
“We are still welcoming more items and skills to be auctioned,” she said.
“It promises to be a lot of fun and we encourage people to book their table early,” Lee Watts said.
The Centre offers a range of services including a food pantry for of people experiencing hardship, Trainlink agency, computer training, Community activities such as the community Christmas in the park and family fun day.
This year the Centre is working to establish a bike park for young children at Amaroo Park this year after a grant from Social Housing.
