New Trainlink Services

NEXT year Transport NSW will trial a coach-rail daily service between Tamworth and Newcastle and encourages people in the local community to take part in an online survey.

Currently there are three intercity rail services to Scone and one extra to Muswellbrook each weekday, but only one regional rail service from Sydney to Armidale.

The trial will include the following options:

• Option 1: Allows for a 8-hour stay in Newcastle: Bus departs Tamworth at 4am, connects with a train at Scone at 6:07am, and arrives in Newcastle at 8:00am. Return train leaves Newcastle at 4:29pm, arrives in Scone at 6:24pm to connect with a coach and arrives in Tamworth at 9:00pm.
• Option 2: Allows for a 6-hour stay in Newcastle: Departs Tamworth at 7:30am, connects with a train at Muswellbrook at 10:09am and arrives in Newcastle at 11:45am. Return train leaves Newcastle at 5:59pm, arrives in Scone at 7:53pm to connect with a coach and arrives in Tamworth at 10:10pm.
• Option 3: Allows for a 4-hour stay in Newcastle: Departs Tamworth at 7:30am, connects with a train at Muswellbrook at 10:09am and arrives in Newcastle at 11:45am. Return train leaves Newcastle at 4:29pm, arrives in Scone at 6:24pm to connect with a coach and arrives in Tamworth at 9:00pm. Customers travelling from Newcastle to Tamworth.

• Option 1: Allows for an 8.5 hour stay in Tamworth: A train departs Newcastle at 3:20am, connects with a coach at Scone at 6:15am, and arrives in Tamworth at 8:10am. Return coach leaves Tamworth at 4:45pm, arrives in Scone at 6:42pm to connect with a train and arrives in Newcastle at 9:00pm.
• OR: Return coach leaves Tamworth at 6:05pm, arrives in Scone at 8:02pm to connect with train, and arrives in Newcastle at 10:45pm.
