It is the second year the helicopter has been used and it is still the only Blackhawk used in Australia for civilian purposes.
Last year the crew clocked up 100 hours fighting fires.
“I think everybody was happy, I mean they were happy enough that we brought another one back,” said Brian Jorgenson, pilot.
“We’re happy to be back in Australia,” she said.
Ross Pay said the Blackhawk surprised many people last year with its ability to operate next to the fires with quicker turn around times than larger aircraft.
“It really showed what it’s potential was last year so I think it is an invaluable asset to have around the place, so yeah, excited to see how we go this year,” said Ross Pay, owner of Pay’s Air Service.
Ned Kimpton was lucky enough to sit in the cockpit of airport and said the best thing about the Blaackhawk is…”the fact that it’s so big.”
