Without doubt, it was a resounding success in downtown Murrurundi over the long weekend as more than 1600 people patronised the 30 stalls at the Michael Reid gallery premises.

Labelled the Bobadil House Spring Market, the event was held on an adjoining paddock to the newly-opened Michael Reid gallery behind the historic Bobadil House on the New England Highway.

The one-day event which ran from 10am-3pm on Sunday, was eagerly participated with parking in the usual peaceful streets of Murrurundi at a premium.

Several stall holders told Scone.com.au they embarrassingly ran out of stock underestimating the volume of visitors expected.

However, they will have to wait until Easter next year for another chance to restock when Michael plans to run his next markets.

The event coincided with the opening of a new gallery which had moved from the historic stables at the side of Bobadil house and into a more modern establishment in between the magnificent restored gallery stables and the highway.

Entrance to the new gallery is at the same gate in Boyd Street, Murrurundi.
