New Biosecurity for Cattle Farmers
ON October 1 cattle producers need to be prepared for the new Johne’s Beef Assurance System and adhere to changes to the Livestock Production Assurance System with a documented biosecurity plan.
Free information sessions will be held in Murrurundi and Gundy during September.
Dr Lyndell Stone, district veterinarian for Hunter Local Land Services said, “this biosecurity approach now just needs to be put on paper in a plan.”
“Producers will leave the information session with all the resources needed to complete their own farm biosecurity plan,” she said.
The accreditation is needed to comply with Australia’s red meat food industry safety system and producers who opt to have a Johe’s Beef Assurance Scone will need to have a farm biosecurity plan in place.
Information sessions:
- 2-4pm, September 5 at Gundy Hall
- 2-4pm, September 14 at Murrurundi RSL.
Numbers are limited, please RSVP by phoning 02 6540 2419.
