Two Teams Two Trophies
TODAY Scone Public School won the finals of the Knights Knockout rugby league competition in the under 10’s and opens in two close games at Newcastle.
See team photos below.
The under tens won their match 22-18 against Valentine and the opens won their match by just 14-10 against Rutherford.
Both teams played six games last month to win their way through to the finals.
Brooke McInerny was on hand with the children who were excited to be at the MacDonald Jones stadium, home of the Knights.
“They sent two teams down here and they had two winners so it’s wonderful,” said Ms McInerny.
“The kids were very excited, their favourite part was getting dressed in the big dressing sheds where the NRL players get dressed, they were very much in awe of that,” she said.
“Rick had to get them to concentrate a bit and walk them out,” she laughed.
“The under 10’s weren’t supposed to win, there is a lot of nine year old’s in the ten year old team and they did well, little kids and they did really well, it was 18 all with ten minutes to go and they ended with 22 to 18,” she said.
“The opens won 14-10 in extra time, it was ten all at full time against St Paul’s, Rutherford so they go to a golden try, not a golden point and they won 14-10,” Brooke McInerny said.
