Scone Stock Report: June 20
By Stuart Sheldrake
THERE were 780 cattle in a reduced yarding, the market was strong for trade cattle but not many cows were yarded with about 140 cows presented selling to firm rates.
The majority of the yarding was made up of weaners which sold five to eight cents dearer, butcher grain fed calves were much better at ten to fifteen cents dearer on reduced numbers.
Steer yearlings 300 to 400 kilos were ten to fifteen cents dearer, the heifer portion was firm.
The wet weather had a little bit to do with the reduced numbers but it is expected that numbers will drop back through the winter months.
