LAST weekend seven teams-worth of Bunnan Polocrosse players trucked out to Coolah for the annual Cassilis Polocrosse Carnival.

This year a new competition, the Toprail Pinnacle, was run in conjunction with the normal club competition and drew some of the top players from across the Eastern side of the country.

Matt Stevenson, Mitch Wamsley, Beth Hafey, Laura Hafey, Jessie Melbourne and Joe Wamsley.

Teams of six playing in the Toprail Pinnacle comp were capped at 50 points, with each player carrying a grade out of 10.

Amazing sponsorship and prizes were up for grabs and teams could be made up of players from any club or state, and even featured some international players.

Bunnan had five young members play in the Pinnacle comp; sisters Leah and Abbey Wilson in the Jake Stanford Harvesting Team, brothers Mitch and Joe Wamsley in the Arrowfield Stud Team and Michael Hockings in the Ranvet Momsen Motors Team.

Mitch and Joe were in the winning Intermediate Mixed team and amazingly each member of their team came away with a brand new Hawkesbury River saddle! Joe won Best No.3 so also picked up a Toprail Equine bridle and breastplate.

Michael’s team ran out winners in the Mixed competition and shared in $9,000 prize money.

In the club competition our D Grade Open team of Brent Morcom, Tegan Halsted, Mick Fitzgerald, Campbell Rose, Brad Fitzgerald and Clancy Martin were runners up.

Our subbies team of Angus Rose, Ben Patterson, Roy Lawler, Jordie Taffe and Darcy Taffe were also runners up.

We’d just like to mention Lauren Eather, Zac Ede and Brad Fitzgerald who played their first games as Bunnan members at Cassilis. Welcome to the club.

This weekend Bunnan will host their annual carnival at the Rosebrook Polocrosse fields on Kayuga Road, Muswellbrook. Come along for a great weekend of horse power-fuelled action.

This weekend Bunnan will also be running the ‘Ringer’s Comp’ again for people who want to try the sport but play against others of a similar skill level.

Please call Brad Wamsley on 0429 078 114 if you’d like any information or to have a go at polocrosse.
