Scone Golf: March 15,16,18
IT was a steamy and very hot day on Thursday March 16 when the Scone lady golfers played an 18 Hole two Ball and Individual Stableford for Judy Carmody and Narelle Rutter’s Trophy.
With a draw for partners, Judy Carmody and Lyn Banks combined well for 43 points to finish two points ahead of both Narelle Rutter and Sarah Howey, and Kathy Robinson and June Jukes, all players were appreciative of the cool clubhouse at the conclusion of play.
The ball winners were: Wendy Clift, Lyn Banks 36, Sarah Howey, Kathy Robinson 34 and visitor Ann Groom 32 points. Lyn also won the NTP on the 17th.
On Thursday March 23 the ladies will play an 18 Hole Stableford for June Jukes’ prizes.
Yvonne Palmer had a good win on Saturday March 11 when she had 38 points, balls went to Julie Leckie and Kerry McLennan.
Scone Ladies Open Day is fast approaching on March 30, with it being the first open day of the season in the Hunter River District, a good day is anticipated with entries closing on March 23.
It was a wet start to play on Saturday but the majority of the field had dry and extremely windy conditions to contend with.
The men played an 18 Hole Stableford for Adrian Fuller’s prizes and it was also the final round of the Captain’s Trophy.
Mick Alsleben had a great round in the conditions with 40 points to be the overall winner.
The Grade winners were a bit off the pace with Clayton Rogers 35 points winning A Grade, Paul Smart 34 points winning B Grade and Trevor Wilson on 37 winning C Grade.
The NTP’s were won by Sean Constable 4.01 metres on the 2nd / 11th, and Mick Alsleben 4.28 metres on the 8th / 17th.
The ball winners were: Mick Alsleben 40, Trevor Wilson 37, Clayton Rogers 35, Paul Smart, Jeff Harrington 34 and Adrian Fuller 33 on a countback.
Trophy donor Adrian Fuller had a good day when his rounds of 40 and 33 points enabled him to win the Captain’s Trophy by one point over Mick Alsleben.
In the Wednesday Red Tee Challenge Mick Alsleben was the winner with 30 points, Sam Casson 26 and Jamie Catzikiris 25 points were the other prize winners.
On Saturday March 25 the event is an 18 Hole Stableford for the Field Family Trophy, it will also be round one of the R. J. Lowrie Cup.
On Sunday March 26 social players can join in for a 9 Hole 4 Person Ambrose with a 2pm for 2.30pm shotgun start, teams or individuals can turn up on the day.
