Hail Predictions Still Hit and Miss

SCONE had hail this afternoon during a downpour and the Bureau of Meteorology confirmed there may be more before the end of the day.

Stephen from the Bureau of Meterology said storms are expected to last until sunset, but less than 10 mils of rain is expected.

“Generally over the years we’ve got better t predicting hail because of the radar system we use and also the way we analyse the conditions and the parameters we use from models help us to predict hail better than in the past,” said Stephen.

“But still it is not always easy and plain sailing to predict hail there’s still lots of unknowns,” he said.
