The gift of blood is desperately needed by cancer and trauma patients this season.

Jemma Falkenmire, a spokesperson for the Australian Red Cross Blood Service urges Scone residents to help make up a shortfall of 20 donations when the mobile service is next in town.

“Donating blood at this time of year means families can spend precious time together over the holiday season, that can’t happen without people donating blood,” said Ms Falkenmire.

“We still need an additional people to help fill available appointments to ensure patients get the blood they need,” she said.

“Giving blood takes just an hour of your time and feels great.  Plus, you get to enjoy a biscuit and a drink once you’re done,” Jemma Falkenmire said.

Ms Falkenmire said the first day of appointments for blood donations was fully booked in Scone, but they hope more residents will donate on Thursday, December 15 and Friday, December 16.
