Police Update: Nov 14
High Range Drink Driver
At approximately 9:55pm on Friday a 40 year old female driving a blue Holden sedan was observed by police to pull out of Susan Street, Scone and turn right into Kelly Street.
The driver is alleged to have pulled out prematurely when traffic was in both north bound lanes and became stranded across the two south bound lanes, but was eventually able to access the north bound lanes and continue to drive.
Police followed the driver and observed her swerving within the land.
The accused then erratically pulled over to the western side of Kelly Street, coming to rest approximately 10 metres north of Mount Street, when police activated their warning lights.
Police described the woman as sweating and unable to focus her eyes on them. When asked for her licence, she fidgeted in her hand bag for a long time and was unable to produce her licence.
Police submitted the woman to a random breath test and she returned a positive reading, was arrested and taken to the police station for further breath analysis, where she returned a positive result of 0.190 grams of alcohol in 210 litres of breath.
The woman was charged with high range drink driving and will appear in Scone Local Court on December 22.
Motorbike Accident in Scone
At approximately 12.07pm on Friday a 35 year old male from Scone was driving a white Toyota Landcruiser and towing a car trailer was travelling south on Kelly Street when he slowed to approximately two or three kilometres and indicated to turn left into the gravel driveway of the Thoroughbred Hotel.
The driver said he heard someone yell out and checked his revision mirror to see a 58 year old male motorcyclist on a Harley Davidson shakily riding the bike and fall off.
At this point the Landcruiser was in the driveway, but the trailer was only a quarter into the driveway and the driver of the Landcrusier immediately stopped and went to assist the motorcyclist who was laying face down on the road.
Ambulance and Scone Fire and Rescue attended the scene and the New England Highway was closed for approximately an hour, with traffic diverted to Main Street, with the assistance of Upper Hunter Shire Council staff.
The motorcyclist was taken to John Hunter hospital in Newcastle by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter with suspected spinal and pelvic injuries.
Police liaised with the John Hunter Hospital on Saturday and confirmed the motorcyclist had sustained a broken right arm and a broken left leg.
The driver of the Landcruiser was submitted to a breath test, which was negative.
