Blair Richardson, president of the Scone Horse Trials said the weather was mixed, but it was an enjoyable weekend and a chance for the eventing community to come together.
“On Saturday unfortunately it rained, which put a dampener on things, but today the sun was out, people are having fun, the ground has held up which is amazing,” Mr Richardson said.
“When we run the state event we have 500 to 600 competitors, but this weekend is smaller with only 180 competitors so we have enjoyed running a smaller event; it still takes a bit of coordinating and everyone has done a great job,” he said.
The state event is held in March and this year was marred by the tragic death of Olivia Inglis.
Her passing had a huge impact on the eventing community and Mr Richardson said the strength of the community is clear in the families involved with the sport care for each other and continue to support the Scone Horse Trials.
“Everyone who has supported the Scone Horse Trials has been fabulous, especially considering the tragedy in March,” said Mr Richardson.
“The families continue to get together for the sport and care for each other,” he said.
“It is a wonderful sport and we feel for the Inglis family, it’s touched a lot of people within the eventing community and this organising committee, but they’ve done a great job in running this event,” Blair Richardson said.
