Tractor Trek Gaining Momentum
CHAMBERLAINS may be able to reach a top speed of 45 kilometres an hour, but the Fiats, Fords and Fergies were a bit slower on their trek between Aberdeen, the Washpools and the Linga Longa Pub on Sunday.
There were 23 old tractors and an old Willy’s Jeep which made the ‘rattlin’ bones engine and groans tractor trek’ this year, hosted by Ian Morgan from Halcombe, Aberdeen.
Ian’s son Lionel Morgan said the tractor trek had only been running a for a few years but was attracting participants and plenty of attention.
“There were a few cars held up occasionally, but we didn’t hear any complaints and a lot of people had a good look when they were parked on the lawn of the Gundy pub,” said Mr Morgan.
“The oldest tractor this year was a Ford, which was probably about 90 years old,” he said.
“Some of the tractors are in really good condition and have been fully restored and others are like they have come straight from the paddock,” he laughed.
“People came from the Central Coast, Quirindi, Bulahdelah and Dungog and on Saturday they did a run up to Rossgole as well,”Lionel Morgan said.
