Cutting Horse in Scone
A National Cutting Horse Association event will be held at White Park in Scone this long weekend and local organisers said it is a great opportunity for local families to enjoy watching the growing horse sport.
Lynda MacCallum, who is making her way back from the United States after being part of the Australian Cutting Horse team which won against the Americans, is also secretary of the Hunter Valley Cutting Horse Club and is excited to be hosting the event in Scone.
“People usually travel good distances to come to our show, it is a good weekend and it would be great for lots of local people to come down and enjoy the day,” said Ms MacCallum.
“We have a full program of events from youth to rookies, which is like the beginner riders right through to open and professional events,” she said.
“The youth is always a great event to watch and it is in the afternoon, to see tiny kids with no inhibitions on a horse controlling a cow and also looking after them so they don’t fall off is something really special to watch it is my favourite event,” she said.
“If people have questions or want to learn more about the sport, please don’t hesitate to come up and ask because it is something that once you know the rules it is easier to understand and we love to have new people come and watch our sport,” Lynda MacCallum said.
This year the event will support the Where There’s a Will Foundation.
Competitors will pay an extra $5 on their entries and the people supplying the cattle are donating the hire back to the Foundation.
