He Should be Worried
St Joseph’s High School teacher, Mr Aaron Mahony had plenty of reason to look worried yesterday.
He was introduced as someone who is an excellent climber, feels at home when he can smell eucalyptus and a natural sportsman who spends a lot of time practicing his batting style in mid-air without a bat.
Qualities that are apparently impressive for a slave and he sold to a syndicate of students for $200.
The sale of teachers for slave duties was part of a fundraising effort for a new school mini-bus, which has already surpassed all expectations.
The students are aiming to raise $20,000 through a walk-a-thon to be held tomorrow and have already raised more than $21,000 said organiser Veronica Rolfe.
“It was a slow start, but by last Friday we had $13,000 and by Wednesday we had more than $21,000, which was incredible,” said Ms Rolfe.
“We have lots of great prizes for the students including a ticket to go in a raffle for a $500 EFTPOS card for every $10 raised, a day out for the admin class that raises the most amount of money and a ticket in a raffle for bus trip in the new bus for every student who raises more than $100,” she said.
“So far there has been an incredible effort and the kind corporate sponsorship has really helped push us over the threshold,” Veronica Rolfe said.
