82 Square Metres Reappears!
STATE Land and Property Information records show the Twaddells do own 4103 square metres, not 4021 as the Upper Hunter Shire Council documented on their water rates.
Council then sent an email to scone.com.au disputing they ever claimed the Twaddells only owned 4021 square metres adding they don’t put land size on rates notices.
However scone.com.au is in possession of one of the Twaddell’s water rate notices which clearly shows the figure Council claimed:
Helen Twaddell has said they are relived the state government records are the same as their deeds and the problem has clearly been Council.
“They need to get off their butts and start doing things properly,” said Mrs Twaddell.
“But I am annoyed we had to go through the media to get a proper answer from them, they are just not being truthful anywhere,” she said.
“We have been in contact with them with phone call after phone call and as far as Matt Pringle (director of environmental and customer s at Council) was concerned they were right and we were wrong,” she said.
“I don’t think it was an honest mistake by them, I think they were just taking the footpath,” she said.
“Since we’ve had this situation we’ve heard of others in the same situation; it’s not the first time they’ve done this and it won’t be the last, I can think of three other examples,” she said.
Council’s assertion that they no longer put land size on rate notices made Mrs Twaddell laugh, “they just don’t want people to know what they are doing!”
Mrs Twaddell said she would still like a written apology from Council and confirmation in writing they agree their land size is 4103 square metres.
