VIDEO: Flash Flood Near Moonan
BRUCE MURRAY was working near Moonan on Monday, when they had a call on the two way at approximately 4:30pm to get the pumps out of the river, as a flash was coming down.
“We hadn’t had any rain, but we could see and hear a storm and it looked as black as the inside of a cow,” said Bruce Murray.
“The flood was on the Hunter River, but it came down from Branch Creek which is probably about five or ten kilometres away,” he said.
“We were just in the right place at the right time and we got to see it a second time, because we went down to another bridge to watch it come past again.
“If you were at a low level crossing it would be something.
“It was travelling at about 10 kilometres an hour, if you were in the creek you would have been in trouble.
“I was talking to a few of the old fellas who had lived in the area all their lives and only one had ever seen something like that,” he said.
“It just shows how you need to be careful around the water, even when it hasn’t been raining,” Bruce Murray said.
