2018 Australia Day Awards – Aberdeen
ABERDEEN residents celebrated their Australia Day ceremony at the Aberdeen RSL Club.
The Citizen of the Year was awarded to Kevin Taylor, Kevin has a keen sense of local history and his work in preserving and recording the history of Aberdeen will hopefuly inspire others to their lives and history.
The Young Citizen of the Year was awarded to Jacinta Ferris for through her work with people with disabilities, Jacinta has been working with people with disabilities since she was 12 years old and is now working professionaly in the field.
Aberdeen Rugby League Football Club received the award for the Community Group of the Year which was accepted by Shane Lloyd, the club is admired for their ‘never say die’ spirit.
Roy Bridge was awarded the Aberdeen District Achiever of the Year for his work around the town to keep it looking wonderful and his work as President of the RSL to keep the valuable community asset viable.
Kate Lloyd is the Young Achiever of the Year, Kate has active roles in school programmes, community programmes and numerous sporting achievments.
The Creative Arts Excellence award was given to Madeline Phelps for her efforts while at St Joseph’s High School, Madeline regularly took extra curricular activities and has represented the school on a number of occasions.
The School Achievement Award was given to Madyson Cox who involved herself in all aspects of school life and was a member of a number of organisational committees and her capacity to be well organised resulted in her excelling within her education.
