$1 Million in Drought Funding
UPPER Hunter Shire Council was successful in receiving $1 million in federal grant funding for drought relief, which will be spent on a range of projects including:
- water filling stations for Scone and Merriwa enabling farmers and others to ‘fill up’ their pods;
- maintenance and repairs on Merriwa Youth Centre;
- mobility access toilets and outdoor play area for Murrurundi Library;
- shade sails at the deep end of Merriwa and Scone pools;
- upgrades to Merriwa Tennis Courts;
- new canteen and office at White Park;
- new irrigation system at the Bill Rose Sports Complex, and
- an adventure park at Jefferson Park in Aberdeen.
