Yarraman Take Top Sale
YARRAMAN Park stud sold a colt by Medaglia d’Oro (USA) and Hoss Amor for $2.4 million today at the Inglis Easter sale.
Arthur Mitchell, part owner of Yarraman Park said they were delighted and surprised by the result.
“We were expecting a lot less than that,” said Mr Mitchell.
“He was a good looking horse, a good action horse and all the right people seemed to like him,” he said.
“He was bought by an international syndicate from America, South Africa, Ireland and China and he will be trained by Chris Wallace,” he said.
“I hope he is very fast,” he laughed
“It has been a strong sale in general and the Hunter Valley studs have done very well,” Arthur Mitchell said.
Yarraman Park sold two other horses another colt from Medaglia d’Ora by Madame Pedrille which sold for $360,000 and a filly from Hinchinbrook which stands at Yarraman and Little Evie for $200,000.
Other sales today of $1million or more included:
- Lot 298 a colt by Not A Single Doubt and Quiet Maggie from Arrowfield Stud, Scone.
- Lot 294 a filly by Exceed and Excel and Prohet Jewel from Middlebrook Valley Lodge, Scone.
- Lot 207 a filly by Zoustar and Listen Here from Edinglassie Stud, Muswellbrook.
- Lot 267 a filly by Exceed and Excel and Nureyev’s Girl from Bhima Thoroughbreds, Scone.
Jonathon D’Arcy, national bloodstock director for Inglis said the diversity of the top sales was a good indication of the strength of the industry.
“Of those ten million dollar lots there are nine different farms, Arrowfield has two, nine different stallions, nine different vendors and eight different buyers so we like to see the diversity in all of those factors,” said Mr D’Arcy.
“”The average price is $354,000 which is 26 percent up on the result last year, the gross is just shy of $80 million and the clearance rate is sitting at 81 percent which is on par with last year and it has been very solid trade all day,” he said.
“It has been great to see the confidence in the market through all of the price brackets we look at and there is more to come tomorrow,” Jonathon D’Arcy said.
