POLICE have confirmed there were four people involved in the head on collision on the New England Highway south of Wingen.
The collision between a Commodore and Mazda near Wngen.
There was a male and a female in an old Commodore who were both from Moree and a male and a female in a Mazda sedan were from Quirindi.
The female driver of the Mazda is believed to be in her 40’s and was flown by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
The other three people were taken by road ambulance to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
The road remains partially closed, but traffic is flowing.
The police crash investigators are on the way to scene.
