Tool Boxes at Doctor’s Surgeries
MEN are encouraged to pick up a tool box from a doctor’s surgery in the Upper Hunter as part of men’s health week next week.
The Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre created the tool boxes which are tailored for rural men, said manager Lee Watts.
“As part of men’s health week we’d encourage men to have a look inside the box,” said Ms Watts.
“We developed the tool kits after speaking with doctors about what tools local men most need for their health,” she said.
“We developed the packs as part of the Virtual Shed and this years theme is about starting conversation and since men seem most comfortable having conversations in the shed, I’d encourage them to drop by a men’s shed in Aberdeen, Merriwa, Murrurundi or Scone,” she said.
“Men’s Sheds are unique to each town and their members providing an opportunity for men to socialise and
enjoy the company of other men in an environment that promotes health and wellbeing,”
Belinda McKenzie the project officer for the Virtual Shed said she will be cooking BBQ’s to bring some local men together.
“I went to Merriwa on Thursday to bring the men of Merriwa together for a social get together and a BBQ which all enjoyed and I will be in Aberdeen at 12noon on Wednesday 15th June to cook up a storm in the new Aberdeen Men’s Shed located in Jefferson Park”.
