So Close but Incredibly Happy
EQUESTRIAN rider Lisa Martin got pipped at the post for a bronze medal in Rio today, but has qualified for the freestyle event in two days time.
Lisa said she was frustrated it was so close, but loved competing.
“I missed out on a medal by 0.9%, it was soooo close!” said Ms Martin.
“But I got into the freestyle which is really good, they take the top seven for the freestyle and because I ranked fourth I will be able to compete in that on the 16th,” she said.
“Great Britain won it on 74, Belgium came second and then Holland came third,” she said.
“I feel frustrated because I was so close, but the horse went really well she was good, there were a couple of little things that cost us and it was just the most minutes things, but you can’t have minute in this.
“These riders are just super, super good and they have been training for six or seven years just for this and some of them have done two or three olympics and world championships and this is only my third para test,” she said.
“It was incredible and I loved it, I am super happy, I am a bit frustrated but still to be fourth is really, really, really cool,” she said.
“I love riding my freestyle and I can’t wait to ride again,” Lisa Martin said.
Emma Booth from Australia will ride tomorrow.
