Sentencing for Rodney Johnson
JUDGE Tim Gartelmann handed down sentencing to Rodney Johnson this morning in Newcastle District Court.
Mr Johnson who had stolen a truck in Murrurundi on October 11, 2017 and went on a rampage down the New England Highway, through several towns before crashing in Singleton was sentenced to an aggregate term of imprisonment of 12 years and six months expiring on April 10, 2030.
He was given a non-parole period of six years and six months, which will expire on April 10, 2024.
On release Mr Johnson will be disqualified from driving for five years and will require an ongoing supervised treatment plan for his mental illness.
