Motorcyclist Killed in Accident
POLICE have confirmed a motorcyclist involved in an accident south of Scone at 5:25am is deceased.
Initial investigations indicate the motorcyclist was travelling north bound on the New England Highway when they had a head on collision with a south bound utility in heavy fog.
The cyclist was ejected from the bike and died on scene.
Police have confirmed the motorcyclist did not live locally.
The involvement of the north bound white sedan is still being investigated.
The male driver of the utility and the male driver of the white sedan are undergoing mandatory drug and alcohol testing, which is standard procedure in fatal road investigations.
The Highway is expected to remain closed until 2pm while the Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit gather information from the scene.
Motorists are advised to use the Gundy/Segenhoe Road while the Highway is closed, however the road is not suitable for b-doubles which are recommended to use Bunnan-Merriwa Road.
The Bunnan-Merriwa Road has restrictions on b-double use when school buses are in operation.
