More Train Pain
THIS week rail workers will strike for 72 hours commencing on Wednesday and announced on Friday they will stage another 24 hour stop work on Tuesday, August 23.
John Fullerton, chief executive officer of the Australian Rail Track Corporation said the stoppages are costing the New South Wales economy more than $50million and adding more trucks carrying freight to our roads.
“The Unions seem intent to proceed with three back-to-back days of train pain next week and have just notified of a further 24 hours of work stoppages on Tuesday 23 August,” said Mr Fullerton.
This brings total train stoppages to nearly 200 hours,” he said.
“This is madness,” he said.
“With every notice of industrial action the unions are proving they don’t care about the community, they don’t care about rail workers and they don’t care about rail,” John Fullerton said.
Bus services will replace passenger rail services in the Upper Hunter and commuters are encouraged to check the Transport NSW website before travelling: www.transportnsw.info.
