Medical Transfer
THE Westpac rescue helicopter has landed in Scone to do a medical transfer to John Hunter Hospital. At this stage the patient details are unknown.
Medical Transfers are a regular service of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service to stabilise seriously ill patients for a range of medical conditions and transfer them to a larger specialist Tertiary Referral Hospital where they can be cared for by specialists.
A Tertiary Referral Hospital is the most well-equipped in the state for dealing with complex cases and other hospitals within the state regularly transfer patients to these hospitals. The John Hunter Hospital is a Tertiary Referral Hospital.
