Letter: Time Has Passed

Dear Madam,

Sadly, the time to preserve 77 Main St is long past.

Action should have been taken, many years ago when the alterations and additions that exist today were mooted.

Many buildings in that area have been “redeveloped” over the years, some more recently than others.

However it is essential that remaining buildings, pertinent to the history of Scone be afforded suitable protection against further loss.

It is also essential that adequate funding be available to support them.

Owning an old house is a never ending, you start at one end and work your way along and then like the Sydney Harbour Bridge, return to where you started.

Would it perhaps be appropriate to place signs and information, with a suitable photo if one exists outside each site, so at least there is a record of that part of Scone’s early settlement?
