Donations for Dodge
DON Adams, owner of the Golden Fleece Hotel describes Jamie “Dodge” Manning as good young bloke who deserves local support.
“He is a good young bloke who got to the top of his game in bull riding and mechanical bull riding,” said Mr Adams.
“It says something that after his injuries he decides to ride 600 kilometres to raise money for a charity to help others,” he said.
“So we are having a fundraiser here so that it doesn’t cost him to go on the ride,” Don Adams said.
The event will be held on Saturday, September 3 and include a band, jumping castle, raffles, auctions and a celebrity bull ride.
Riders who have been roped into the event so far included current Mayor Wayne Bedggood, Councillor Lee Watts, Councillor Maurice Collison, CEO of TransCare Al Gordon, Scone football legend Daryl Rando and president of Scone junior rugby league Jamie Munn.
Jade Smith is also wrangling some professional bull riders for the night.
To help make the fundraiser a success Melanie Bright is encouraging local businesses to make a donation for a raffle prize or an auction item this week.
“Vouchers, memorabilia, cash donations every little bit will help, just come into the pub and see us,” said Ms Bright.
Some items donated so far include:
- a football signed by Norm Provan and Arthur Summons;
- a voucher from the Fridge and Frypan;
- a gift pack from Ice Box Liquor;
- a gift pack from Scone Newsagency;
