Weather: The week ahead

Filed in Just In by July 19, 2021

SUNSHINE, rain and snow, the Upper Hunter expects to see it all this week.

Cold air from last week’s cold front is still sitting over the region today, creating cooler air temperatures and chilly mornings amidst sunny daytime conditions.

Tomorrow, another cold front is expected to make its way over the Hunter, with a drop in temperatures arriving on Wednesday.

The Upper Hunter may see a few millimetres of rainfall and a possible thunderstorm on Wednesday afternoon.

Snow is also forecast to fall anywhere above 1100 metres Wednesday, so places like the Barrington Tops and Murrurundi Range could see up to five centimetres depending on rainfall activity.

Thursday morning will be a frosty one, as the cold front settles over the Upper Hunter. Temperatures are forecast to drop as low as minus one, with temperatures in snow affected areas potentially dropping even lower.

The Upper Hunter is also set for a wet weekend, with rain activity expected to return on Friday, heighten on Saturday and begin to ease off on Sunday.

Saturday will be the main day for rain activity, with anywhere between one and five millimetres predicted to fall.

As rainfall returns, so does the snow, with snow levels predicted to drop to 1000 metres over the weekend, creating the potential for another five centimetre dusting.

The Glenbawn Dam level is currently sitting at 61.4 percent capacity, a 0.7 percent increase since last week.

A maximum temperature of 15 today in Scone.
