Timmy and Tammy Up For Adoption

Filed in Recent News by August 29, 2019

NAMED after the iconic Australian biscuits, Timmy and Tammy are six month old Tasmanian Devils who have been put up for adoption to help their whole species survive.

The joeys are part of a bumper crop of 69 Tasmanian Devil joeys born this season at the Aussie Ark and are the greatest hope for the survival of the species with more than 90 percent of the wild population lost.

Liz Vella, curator at the Aussie Ark on the Barrington Tops, said for as little as $25 a month people can help adopt a Tasmanian Devil joey and help them thrive.

“Tasmanian devils are one of the most iconic native species we have and looking at Timmy and Tammy you can see why they are so loved,” said Ms Vella.

“We’ve lost 90% of this species in the wild and they’re facing a bleak future, but through our Aussie Ark breeding program we’re working towards creating a long-term future for this species, and Timmy and Tammy are a big part of that,” she said.

“We face a world without our unique Aussie animals if we don’t act now so we’re asking all Aussies to dig deep and help us ensure a future for our wildlife,” she said.

“You can adopt one of our Devils and for just the price of a cup of coffee a week, help ensure their long-term survival,” Liz Vella said.
