Stay at home orders – impacting some residents of Scone

Filed in Just In by August 5, 2021

AT 5pm today Muswellbrook, Singleton, Cessnock, Dungog, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, and Port Stephens local government areas will enter a snap lock down for seven days.

While residents of the Upper Hunter Shire Council area are NOT in lock down, many workers, students, residents and households may be affected if they travel into the lock down areas.

PLEASE NOTE: Anyone who has been in an area going into lock down, on or since Saturday, July 31, MUST adhere to stay at home orders. – Please note we had previously been advised it was from Friday, but it is Saturday.

What you need to know:

People who travel into a lock down area:

  • You may only enter a lock down area for the following reasons:
    • essential work – work you are required to do, which can not be done without entering the lock down area;
    • medical treatment;
    • funeral or memorial services that comply with the rules, or
    • vaccination for Covid-19 – see the procedures you must follow: Vaccination. Please be aware the area mentioned in the NSW government link still has information pertaining to Greater Sydney, but now applies to all lock down areas.
  • AFTER you leave a lock down area and return home to an area NOT in lock down:
    • you must also comply with stay at home orders – only leaving your home for shopping and essential reasons – you need to adhere to the same rules of people living in a lock down area;
    • people you live with do not have to adhere to stay at home orders, but are strongly encouraged to limit their movements. For example, the children of a mine worker who live in Scone, can continue to attend school.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN IN ANY OF THE AREAS GOING INTO LOCK DOWN AT 5PM TODAY, SINCE OR ON SATURDAY, JULY 31 – YOU MUST COMPLY WITH STAY AT HOME ORDERS. This includes children who may have been in a lock down area, will need to be home schooled.

If you have questions about how the new rules may impact you, please email: news@scone.com.au and we will get the correct information from NSW Health and share the information with the community to ensure everyone is properly informed.
