Scone Golf Report: Sept 8-11

On Thursday, September 9 eighteen Scone lady golfers played an 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford event for the Monthly Medal. It was kindly sponsored by Melanie’s Jewellers and Mitani Café. On offer also was the “Wine O’Clock Putting” sponsored by Julie Leckie.

The day started very nicely but this didn’t last long with it becoming progressively windy from 10.30am. Janie Holyman had a super round of 68 nett to be the Medal winner. Annie Woods and Dordie Bragg both had fine rounds for 70 nett with Annie being the Runner Up on a countback. Dordie Bragg had the lowest scratch score for the day of 82 but had to settle for a ball for her efforts.

On a difficult day for putting as the greens recover from recent renovations, the wine was won by Lyn Banks who had 31 putts one ahead of Pam Manning. The ball winners were: Janie Holyman 41, Annie Woods, Dordie Bragg 38, Noreen Marshall 37, June Jukes 36, Louise Mathews 34, Cheryl Clydsdale, Mary Ellen Brennan 33 and Vonnie Palmer 32 points.

The Wednesday Medley Stableford on September 8, also had eighteen players. The winner of the Scone RSL Group prize was Mac Dawson who had a fine round of two over par for 38 points. The Runners Up prize went to Will Druitt on 36 points on a countback from Ross Banks and Tim Smith. All these players were ball winners along with Scott Shann, Glen Tarrant, Luke Stevens, Scott Bourke (V) 34, and Jake Teague 32 points on a countback from Lyn Banks.

A full field of sixty four players enjoyed the course on Saturday September 11. They played an 18 Hole Individual and 2Ball Stableford for the A. E. Shaddock Memorial Day. In its 33rd year of play and sponsorship by Charlie Manning and Noel Kelly, the winners with a fabulous score of 52 points were Ross Banks and George Campbell. On a day of high scoring the next two best team scores were by Lyn Banks and Vonnie Palmer 49, and Geoff Barton and Robert Ryan 48 points.

George Campbell also had the best individual round of the day with an outstanding 48 points. He headed the ball winners along with Geoff Barton 41, Robert Ryan, Lyn Banks 40, Julie Leckie, Ross Banks, Michael Robinson, Andrew Parry-Okeden 39, Mikey Carmody 38, Mac Dawson 37, Brad Baker, Adam Brayshaw, Matt Hobbs, Trevor Wilson 36, Luke Stevens, Warren Styles, Graham White, Phil McGuirk, John Roe, James Munro, David Druce 35, Yvonne Palmer, Clayton Rogers, Darryl Dutton, Mick Alsleben, David Bradshaw 34, Col Solway, Red Palmer, Charlie Wintle, George Davidson 33, David O’Donnell and Tony O’Neill 32 points on a countback from Tyler Jordan and Leanda Nutt.

In golf this week at Scone the Wednesday Medley Stableford competition is on September 15. On Thursday, September 16 the ladies will play an 18 Hole Stableford sponsored by Jodie Hinde, and a Stableford will also be the event on Saturday September 18, sponsored by Scott Shann and Duncan Yuille.
